Water & Drought Response

Water scarcity remains one of the most urgent challenges facing communities across Northeast State of Somalia. Prolonged droughts, climate variability, and limited water infrastructure continue to place vulnerable families at risk.

JK Green Foundation works with communities and local authorities to respond to immediate water needs while exploring sustainable solutions that strengthen long-term water security.

Emergency Drought Response Impact

JK Green Foundation carried out three consecutive emergency water campaigns in response to severe drought conditions affecting communities across Northeast State of Somalia.

Through these rapid response efforts, the foundation distributed 26 water tanks, supporting 100 households by improving short-term water storage and reducing the need for repeated water collection during peak drought periods.

This intervention helped protect vulnerable families and contributed to saving hundreds of livestock and lives during critical drought conditions. In recognition of the effectiveness and impact of these efforts, JK Green Foundation received an appreciation award for its drought response work.

Emergency Water Response

During periods of severe drought, JK Green Foundation supports affected communities through emergency water delivery and targeted community assistance. These responses are designed to address immediate shortages and reduce the impact of water scarcity on households, livestock, and essential daily activities.

Emergency efforts are coordinated with local authorities and community representatives to ensure timely, fair, and effective support.

Community Support and Coordination

Community involvement is central to effective drought response. JK Green Foundation works closely with local leaders, volunteers, and authorities to assess needs, prioritise assistance, and support community-led solutions.

This collaborative approach helps ensure that interventions are culturally appropriate, transparent, and aligned with local priorities.

Towards Sustainable Water Solutions

While emergency water delivery is often necessary, long-term resilience requires sustainable water systems. JK Green Foundation aims to explore solutions that reduce reliance on water trucking, including community-based water storage and reservoir systems.

These initiatives are subject to technical assessments, partnerships, and available funding, and are intended to complement emergency response while strengthening long-term water security.

Our Commitment

JK Green Foundation is committed to responsible, transparent, and community-driven water response efforts. Our work prioritises sustainability, collaboration, and accountability to ensure that water interventions contribute to lasting positive impact.
